5 Brands Offering Up Tasty Vegan Backpacking Meals

Let’s be real. Sometimes you don’t have the time or resources to make vegan backpacking meals for yourself. Turns out there are a lot of herbivores on the trail these days and it’s becoming much easier to buy vegan backpacking food right off the shelf. That’s why I’ve made this list of my favorite brands who supply pre-packaged vegan backpacking meals.

Nomad Nutrition

A fully plant-based company, Nomad Nutrition has an incredible line of tasty vegan backpacking meals that are packed with wholesome ingredients. The meals are crafted in-house in the pacific northwest and tested by vegan athletes and outdoors people all over the world.

My Favorite Meals from Nomad Nutrition:

Kathmandu Curry
Irish Shepard’s Pie
Hungarian Goulash

Harmony House

Don’t have time to dehydrate loads of veggies for your upcoming thru-hike? Harmony House has you covered with a full line of organic dehydrated, pre-packaged veggies, fruits, nuts, spices, everything you need to create your own backpacking meals. This is the best option for those who will need to be sending re-supply packages to themselves.

Outdoor Herbivore

I have to say that Outdoor Herbivore has some of the best tasting vegan backpacking meals out there. They even have a vegan tofu scramble! Their bags are also heat safe so you can pour boiling water straight into the packaging.

REI

REI has a section on their website dedicated to all of their vegan options. Several brands like Mountain House and Good to Go offer vegan freeze-dried meals.

Patagonia Provisions

Patagonia has recently launched a backpacking meal line and several of their offerings are fully vegan. Their soups look incredible. I personally will be trying their green lentil soup and the red bean chili.

DIY Vegan Backpacking Meals

Of course if you do have some extra time and resources, you can make your own vegan backpacking food. I have many recipes right here on my site and over on my YouTube channel. Check them out and let me know what you think!
